Watch out for these common poisonous plants

There are several garden plants that are poisonous in the UK. Here are some examples:

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) - All parts of the plant are toxic, especially the leaves and seeds.

Yew (Taxus baccata) - With the only exception being the fleshy red aril around the seed, the whole is toxic.
Lily-of-the-valley (Convallaria majalis) - The entire plant is toxic to consume, especially the berries.
Rhododendron (Rhododendron species) - The entire plant is toxic to consume, especially the leaves.
Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides) - The seeds and pods of the tree are toxic.
Daffodil (Narcissus species) - The bulbs and leaves are toxic when ingested.
Monkshood (Aconitum species) - All parts of the plant are toxic, especially the roots. Commonly used to poison arrowheads in the past, parts of the plant can be toxic to the touch and a few gardeners have died due to excessive contact with the plant

Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis) - The bulbs are toxic, especially when ingested.

Deadly nightshade (Atropa belladonna) - All parts of the plant are toxic to ingest, especially the berries.

It's important to look out for any poisonous plants in your garden and take appropriate measures to keep others safe. Keep these plants out of reach, always use gloves when touching them, and teach children not to touch or taste any unfamiliar plants. If you suspect that you or someone else has been poisoned, call an ambulance immediately.
