Dry stonewall construction using pure manpower, upcycled local rocks and on-site earth. We transformed part of the garden by adding a lovely rustic feature to look at and plant on.
We built a strong and beautiful dry stone wall onto the rear perimeter embankment of a garden, with every stone carefully placed to create a small work of art. We collected local rocks from friendly neighbors who gave them away for free.
Firstly, we ripped out the old rotten fence panel (which literally had putrid-looking mushrooms growing out of it) and then we excavated a large area of old earth that had been used as a monolithic green waste heap by the previous incumbent for many years and had now rotten down into soil covered over with brambles. It basically had "F off" written all over it and wasn't nice to look at at all.
Encaked within the soil was a time capsule of old toys and metal thingamajigs (yes, that word is in the dictionary), some of which we recycled, like a children's trowel, which actually makes for quite a handy tool for gently applying soil to fill in gaps between the stones of the wall.
After a few sessions, the project had been completed, without using any noisy polluting machinery or supporting a concrete industry with an enormous carbon footprint. Our client now has a charming new feature to look at and didn't spend a penny on materials.
A pressure washer can acheive so many things. This amazing tool can clean the naturally occouring layers of outer scum from paving stones, concrete, walls, wood, glass and metal.
Brambles are too difficult to deal with by hand, that's why you need a brush cutter. I use a 56v battery powered bike-handled strimmer with a blade attachment for the quick and efficient annihilation of bramble patches. Ready for the burn.

Weeding needs to be done to keep your prized beds beautiful and healthy. Chemical weeding is not a good option on beds, so a lot of work needs to be done by hand with tools like trowels, handforks and seccateurs
